Site Control 1.0 – A Self-Hosted Website Management Dashboard for Blocs, HTML, PHP and CMS Websites

Turn an existing website into a manageable, self-hosted system without rebuilding the frontend or moving website data into a cloud platform.

Site Control adds a protected administration layer to exported Blocs websites, static HTML projects, custom PHP/PHTML websites and compatible CMS installations. The original design stays in place while content, forms, analytics, consent, translations, accessibility settings, backups and updates are managed from one dashboard.

Upload one folder, open the installer and let Site Control scan the existing environment. It detects public pages, compatible forms, shared layouts, scripts and available database connections. Safe files can be connected automatically; sensitive templates and dynamic files remain protected until an administrator reviews them.

One dashboard for the complete website

Site Control includes:

• Page and content management
• Website-wide search and replace
• Form detection, enquiries and email delivery
• Local website and contact analytics
• Cookie consent and JavaScript management
• Google Search Console integration
• Multilingual pages and real language URLs
• Accessibility and reading-comfort tools
• Full-environment backups and website migration
• Internal users and menu permissions
• Transaction-safe updates and rollback

Built for existing websites

Site Control works with:

• Exported Blocs websites
• Static HTML websites
• Custom PHP and PHTML projects
• Shared headers, footers and include files
• Mixed HTML/PHP structures
• Compatible CMS environments, including WordPress

Site Control does not replace the existing frontend. It connects to suitable parts of the current website and leaves unsupported or ambiguous dynamic logic untouched.

Content editor with protected source-file writing

Edit suitable website content directly from the dashboard, including:

• Headings, paragraphs and list items
• Link text and destinations
• Buttons
• Images and alternative text
• CSS classes
• Page titles and meta descriptions
• Canonical and selected SEO information

Changes are written to the original source files. Every edit includes a preview, file-hash verification, protected backup, atomic file replacement, history entry and rollback option.

Dynamic PHP logic, loops, generated output and ambiguous template structures remain read-only. Shared layouts, email templates, invoices, internal pages and other sensitive files require explicit approval. Approvals are bound to the current file version and are requested again after an external modification.

Website-wide search and replace

Search for content across multiple pages and replace it centrally. Site Control shows affected files before the operation begins. Large changes run in resumable batches and can continue or roll back safely after a browser close, PHP timeout or interrupted request.

Pages, forms and email

Detected pages and forms are brought into one central interface. Site Control supports:

• Page routes and source-file information
• Page pause and restore
• Detection of external file changes
• Form submission storage and searchable enquiry history
• Configurable recipients, sender addresses and sender names
• SMTP, Brevo SMTP and Brevo API delivery
• Test messages and existing SMTP configuration detection

Supported submissions and credentials remain inside the protected Site Control data folder on the website owner’s server.

Local analytics and contact tracking

Privacy-focused local tracking can record:

• Page views
• Form submissions
• Language changes
• External link clicks
• Email link clicks
• Telephone link clicks
• Configured contact actions

Google Analytics 4 can be connected optionally. Local analytics data remains on the same hosting environment. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are respected.

Cookie consent and JavaScript scanner

Site Control includes a configurable cookie and consent system for local analytics, Google Analytics, external scripts, embedded media and other consent-dependent services.

The JavaScript scanner discovers scripts used by the website and displays where they were found. Administrators can leave a script unchanged or assign it to:

• Necessary
• Analytics
• Marketing and external content

Each managed service can receive its own name, purpose description and optional cookie names. These details are shown inside the public consent preferences. Protected system files and unsafe PHP string contexts are never modified automatically.

Accessibility and reading comfort

The optional accessibility toolbar gives visitors controls for font size, line and character spacing, readable fonts, contrast modes, grayscale, highlighted links, visible keyboard focus and reduced motion.

Language selection, cookie settings and accessibility can share one configurable floating control so the website does not need several separate buttons. Appearance, colours and position can be adjusted from Site Control.

These tools improve individual reading comfort but do not replace a professional accessibility audit or guarantee legal compliance.

Multilingual website management

Site Control provides a complete translation workflow with 51 selectable language variants, including regional variants such as English (US).

Features include:

• Translation drafts and review statuses
• Search, sorting and filters
• CSV export and import
• Published and unpublished translations
• Real language-specific URLs
• Custom translated URL paths
• Translated titles and meta descriptions
• Canonical and hreflang output
• Translated internal links
• JSON-LD schema URL handling
• Language-specific sitemaps
• Replacement images for translated pages
• Configurable language switcher

No external translation platform is required.

Google Search Console

Connect Google Search Console through the dashboard for property configuration, individual URL inspection, indexing information and sitemap workflows. Google remains responsible for whether and when a URL is crawled or indexed.

Full-environment backups and migration

Create a manual encrypted backup of the complete website environment, regardless of whether the website uses Blocs, plain HTML, PHP or a supported CMS. If a compatible database is detected, it can be included in the backup.

Large backups and restores run as resumable background tasks instead of one long browser request. A progress screen locks conflicting Site Control actions while the operation is active. Only one completed backup remains stored on the server; creating a new backup safely replaces the previous one. Backups can also be downloaded, uploaded and restored in another Site Control installation.

Restore operations use persistent journals, protected rollback copies and website maintenance mode. Storage requirements are checked before destructive steps begin.

Internal users and permissions

The main administrator can create additional internal users with their own name, email address and password. Access is granted per Site Control menu area. New menu areas introduced by a future update remain disabled for existing secondary users until the main administrator explicitly enables them.

Users can manage their own account details and password. Main-administrator password or email changes invalidate older sessions.

Secure updates and recovery

Complete Site Control ZIP updates can be installed from the dashboard while customer data remains protected. Updates use:

• Exclusive update locking
• Version, format and minimum-PHP validation
• Signed file inventories and SHA-256 verification
• ZIP size, compression and path checks before extraction
• Persistent transaction journals
• Automatic rollback after a failed update
• Removal of files no longer included in a release
• Protected update backups with retention limits

Form submissions, analytics, translations, credentials, email settings, Google connections, consent configuration, users and website history are not replaced by normal updates.

Self-hosted and privacy-focused

Website-specific data remains on the customer’s hosting environment. Site Control does not require a hosted dashboard, external CMS, cloud content database or external translation provider.

Installation

1. Download and unzip the personal Site Control package.
2. Upload the complete site-control folder to the website root.
3. Open /site-control/install/ in a browser.
4. Create the main administrator account.
5. Review the detected website environment.
6. Connect the website and test its pages and forms.

No manual code integration is normally required.

Recommended workflow after a new Blocs export

After exporting or uploading a new website version:

1. Open Site Control.
2. Run the website scan.
3. Run the content and script scans.
4. Review changed or sensitive source files.
5. Test the public website and important forms.
6. Continue editing from the dashboard.

License

Each personal Site Control license can be activated on one active website domain. The installed version remains permanently usable. Update and download access is available for the period included with the license and can be extended manually without a subscription or automatic renewal. A license can be transferred through the controlled transfer process; the previous installation is deactivated only after the new website activates successfully.

Documentation

Downloadable manuals are included in English, German and Italian.
